Carol comes to the VWB/VSF Board with over 10 years’ experience in international cooperation combined with a strong background in governance. She is passionate about gender equality and firmly believes that international volunteer cooperation is an effective means of delivering development results.
Carol acquired significant capacity in volunteer recruitment, training, management and public engagement while working on the Uniterra volunteer program for World University Service of Canada (WUSC). She later managed WUSC’s volunteer cooperation program in Haiti and was responsible for identifying partners, deploying volunteers, developing project management tools and training staff in their use.
She developed capacity-building partnerships between Canadian and Southern organizations as International Partnership Advisor and later co-coordinated the International Forum for Volunteering in Development’s IVCO conference and working group. Carol is a former international volunteer herself (Mexico, 2000, Peru 2008).
Currently Carol serves as the Governance and Planning Advisor for Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan). She has over 5 years’ experience managing boards, board committees, director recruitment, onboarding and evaluations as well as AGM processes.
Carol holds a graduate diploma in Community Economic Development from Concordia University’s School of Community and Public Affairs in Montreal. She speaks English, French and Spanish
