katie clow, DVM, PhD
Since the foundation of Vets Without Borders, Katie has been an active volunteer with the organization and assumed the position of Board Chair in September, 2018. Katie completed her veterinary education at the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC).
During veterinary school, she gained valuable experience working at the animal-human-environment interface during internships at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. After graduation in 2011, she practiced at a rural small animal clinic and then returned to the CFIA where she assisted with the development of biosecurity protocols for the Canadian dairy and goat industries. Despite enjoying these experiences, Katie had not yet found her niche within veterinary medicine. In the fall of 2017 she completed a PhD at OVC in vector-borne disease ecology, specifically examining the ecology of Lyme disease in Ontario. She hopes to continue her career in academia, applying her research skills to improve animal and human health locally and globally. Katie is incredibly grateful to be a member of the Board of Directors and contribute to the growth and development of the organization.
