Register for VWB/VSF's Ukraine Webinar Series

As part of VWB/VSF's ongoing commitment to support animals and animal health workers in Ukraine, we are thrilled to launch our Ukraine Webinar Series, which will connect animal health experts from across North America with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, animal shelter workers, students, and more in Ukraine. The goal of these webinars is to continue building animal welfare capacity in Ukraine, where many communities have been destroyed and access to veterinary care is near-impossible. These free, hour-long webinars will be hosted simultaneously in English and Ukrainian, and recorded for those who are unable to attend.

Our second webinar will be hosted by Dr. Jane Vermeulen (DVM), the founder and primary veterinarian of Vets for Pets Victoria, a remarkable no-cost veterinary clinic situated within a transition shelter in a bustling Canadian city. For over a decade, Dr. Vermeulen and her team have been dedicated to serving the pets of people experiencing homelessness and low-income pet owners, ensuring they receive the care they need and deserve.

Discover how, despite limited resources, Vets for Pets Victoria has managed to run a monthly veterinary clinic right in the heart of a homeless shelter. In just two hours, they provide essential care to over 60 pets, focusing on preventive measures such as vaccines, parasite control, and treatment for common eye, ear, and skin infections. The clinic also emphasizes educating clients on the significance of spaying and neutering their beloved pets.

The program received no government funding and was managed primarily through donations and volunteer time. In 2022, Dr. Vermeulen moved to South Carolina, and the program is now carried forward by two dedicated veterinarians who began their journey as volunteers over ten years ago.

During this webinar, you will have the opportunity to:

- Gain insights into the Canadian experience of street veterinarian clinics helping homeless pets and pets from low-income families.
- Discover practical strategies for implementing similar programs in Ukraine
- Explore the power of collaboration, community engagement, and volunteerism in creating sustainable initiatives.

Don't miss this incredible opportunity to learn from the experiences of Dr. Jane Vermeulen and the dedicated team behind Vets for Pets Victoria and explore how this experience can be applied in Ukraine.

NOTE: Webinar will be in English and translated live into Ukrainian.
