Dr. Zoë Campbell
Scientist, Gender @ International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) Kenya
Dr. Zoë Campbell is an interdisciplinary researcher specializing in the intersection between gender and animal health / One Health. With a background as a wildlife technician in Oregon and as an environmental extension officer in Tanzania, she brings diverse experience to her work at ILRI. Based in Nairobi, she contributes to projects at ILRI such as ECo-PPR, assessing bacteriophage adoption, and integrating gender-responsive approaches into One Health initiatives.
In this webinar, Zoë discussed the importance of considering gender and social equity in One Health research and development activities, including a new framework to assist practitioners in their work.
Kavitha Misra
Gender Advisor @ Veterinarians Without Borders (VWB) North America
Kavitha Misra is an international development professional with experience in advancing gender, education and health initiatives across diverse cultures. With a keen focus on gender, health and marginalized communities, Kavitha has spearheaded transformative projects that foster inclusivity and equality. Based in Hanoi, Kavitha is currently Gender Technical Advisor with VWB North America. Prior to this role, she served as Gender Advisor volunteer with VWB in Vietnam for more than 2 years.
In this webinar, Kavitha discussed the importance of positive masculinity in gender-inclusive One Health interventions, drawing on field experience in Vietnam to underscore men’s role in empowering women within community initiatives.
Dr. José Denis-Robichaud (DVM, MSc, PhD, DACVPM)
Independent Veterinary Epidemiology Consulting
Dr. José Denis-Robichaud is a veterinary epidemiologist researcher, a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (ACVPM), an associate member of the GREZOSP (Groupe de Recherche en Épidémiologie des Zoonoses et Santé Publique), and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia. Her work with multiple research groups within universities, government, and industries has the ultimate goal to integrate One Health concepts into diverse contexts, from animal health to public health.
In this webinar, José discussed the role and significance of women as animal owners and caretakers, Community Animal Health Workers (CAHWs), and veterinarians. Drawing on her work and volunteering experience in One Health, she highlights women's challenges and successes in the field.
